Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said the state saw 57,733 cyber-fraud cases over the past three years, resulting in a staggering loss of Rs 5,473.97 crore but authorities recovered only 11.5% of the amount.

India

India has invested heavily in its vocational training ecosystem. The Directorate General of Training (DGT) manages more than 14,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and has supported the digital skills of over 23 lakh trainees. And yet, the system remains overstretched. Only 36% of sanctioned instructor positions in ITIs are filled, leaving deep gaps, particularly in trades such as electronics, CNC operations, and automotive repair.

World

The return on an additional year of schooling is lower than not just China, but also Sub-Saharan Africa, according to the World Inequality Report.

In 1980, neither China nor India had much representation in the “global middle class” — people who neither belong to the bottom half of the income distribution nor rank among the top 10 per cent worldwide. Almost a half-century later, things have changed — but in very different ways. China now accounts for a sizable share of the more affluent middle-income earners, while India seems to have faded in relative importance.
